What are your hormones trying to tell you?
Hormone imbalances are one of, if not THE most common reason, women come to me as a client. We talk (a lot) during our first few sessions about their entire life being; how they feel, what they eat, drink and supplement with, how they sleep, do they exercise, do they have any sex drive, what beauty and body products do they use, what is their full health history, including mental/emotional health. What about their full stress picture? I’m not talking about feeling a little frazzled here and there, I mean full blown overwhelm, anxiety, depression, unhappiness, low energy, no motivation, shitty sleep, digestive upset – you get the picture.
Where do they hold their weight? Is it in their stomach, arms and face OR hips, gluteus and thighs? Are those areas riddled with cellulite? These symptoms are like messages from your body that something is up, and it’s time to pay attention.
I see severe pain, bleeding and mood swings in women’s cycles. I see periods that come and go whenever it feels like it; major breast tenderness, headaches, cravings, acne, hair loss, ZERO energy and ZERO mojo. One of the most common symptom pictures I have been seeing recently is a condition known as Hypothalamic Amenorrhea and it is MAJORLY caused by chronic, on-going stress, pituitary and adrenal fatigue. If there’s an imbalance of female sex hormones, estrogen, or progesterone, this will disrupt the pituitary gland’s production of Follicle Stimulating Hormone and Luteinising Hormone, and will throw off the fine-tuned cycle.
I kept seeing these same issues come up over and over again, which is why I created my intensive 10-week program called The Hormone Project. We go through a healthy hormone profile and begin to narrow in on what blood work we need completed and how we can begin to shift their daily habits from that of tearing their body down to building it up.
Here is my Simplicity Tip, that you can take away right now to start on your journey towards understanding your hormones: Keep track of your cycle. If you are not closely paying attention to your menstrual cycles, I recommend you begin now. Try one of the many period tracking apps available on your phone; Period Tracker Lite, My Days, or Flo. It is a simple way to keep track of your cycle so you have one less thing to remember. It will allow you to log your symptoms, how long your cycle lasts and your estimated ovulation date.
Are you waiting for the days of greater awareness to how your body is truly feeling? If you keep making time for everyone else and continue to neglect your own body and the messages it tries to send you, it will only be a matter of time before things start to become greatly imbalanced. You are worth the time to watch, notice, journal and to do something about the body you are in – it’s the only one you’ve got!
