Throwback to my early 30’s… I was starting to wonder if my metabolism was damaged.
I had worked out my whole life and had never really taken a break. I kept a training + food journal and I believed that calories in vs. calories out was the way to be healthy and maintain my weight.
This rigid approach worked...until it didn't.
I had little kids, I didn’t have time to move my body like I used to or eat and sleep the way my body needed me to. I was running around after one kiddo with another on my hip, and as they got older, my business got busier, and their schedules got busier -- my own self-care moved further down the list.
When I could workout, I chose high intensity exercise so I would burn the most calories and make the “best use” of my time.
I would go in & out of strict meal plans and lengthy supplement protocols. I wasn’t seeing the results I hoped for and wasn’t feeling great either.
I felt puffy, inflamed and frustrated AF.
Even though I was a Nutritionist and had been for over 10 years, I had hit a point where I knew this wasn’t the right path. I reminded myself that my hormones, stress levels, thyroid, genetics and so much more than calories in vs. calories out were impacting my results and how I felt.
Now in my 40s, I have never felt more connected, more in alignment with my body; her strength, her vitality, her grace, honoring when she is ready to rise and go deep from a place of power and when she needs to pull back and be taken care of and supported.
The most important lesson to realize is that you need to respect the phase that you're in, and to give your body what it needs to feel healthy, rested and vibrant.
