Taking The Heat Out of Hot Flashes

Hot flashes can be very irritating because they disrupt sleep. They occur as estrogen levels change in the body, not because of a deficiency of estrogen, a common misconception. What you need to consider as possible treatments are anything that will help support a constant level of estrogen in your body.

Here are a few tips to follow to support your estrogen needs:

1. Pour on the flaxseeds. Add two to three tablespoons of ground flaxseeds into protein smoothies, salads, yogurt and oatmeal each day.

2. Include fermented, organic & NON GMO soy in your diet either during the first half of your cycle or daily if you have no flow. I am not of the no soy camp for women but do only recommend good quality.

3. Consider taking herbs that support estrogen levels such as black cohosh and angelica or herbs that support progesterone levels such as vitex and wild yam. You may also want to look into a herbal combination, such as Vitex Combo Femance by St Francis Herb Farm, which you can find in tincture form (get 15% off with JENNPIKE15 @stfrancisherbfarm) *please work with someone to know what’s best for you🤓

4. Consider having your hormones tested via the @dutchtest with one of our practitioners.

5. Physical exercise each morning will help with hormonal balance. Resistance training will also provide many benefits for you, from improved bone mass to increased metabolism.

6. As I recommend for everyone, be sure you are covering your basic nutritional needs with fresh and whole foods, a balance of protein, healthy fat and lots of leafy greens and fulfill your requirements for bone health by taking specific whole food & supplement support for your body.
