Natural Deodorant You Can Make At Home
Today I made an appearance on Breakfast Television with the fabulous Dina Pugliese and we chatted about some natural skincare products. I showed how to create your own at-home version of an all-natural deodorant, its one I use myself and LOVE! So now I am sharing this incredible recipe with all of you.
In my new book The Simplicity Project ~ A Simple No-Nonsense Approach To Losing Weight & Changing Your Body Forever! I educate as to why switching up your commercial, chemical filled products is such an important and integral part of your whole-body, whole-living, holistic approach to living your best, most balanced life. I also provide a few recipes such as my signature Coconut Vanilla Brown Sugar Body Scrub, Hydrating Face Mask and Toner. However…my book was already to off to print when I discovered this recipe for deodorant so here it is to enjoy now:
Ingredients:
1/4 cup arrowroot powder
1/4 cup aluminum-free baking soda
6-8 tbsp organic coconut oil
A few drops of our favourite smelling essential oil (I love orange, grapefruit & lavender)
Using an average sized cereal bowl combine the arrowroot and baking soda with a spoon until well combined. Next, add in the coconut oil little by little until you achieve a creamy, yet solid texture that rubs onto your fingers. You can choose to store your newly created treasure in a glass shallow mason jar OR and here is my favourite way…
Save one of your old deodorant containers or pull out what is left and fill tight to the brim with your recipe and VOILA! Your very own custom blended, chemical-free, moisturizing, great smelling deodorant.
Now, for those of you that are new to the natural pit-stick department here are a few things to know:
- You will smell in the beginning. This is normal. For years, for decades, you have been suppressing your body’s natural ability to sweat and perspire with aluminum and petroleum based products that have been pushing the toxins deep into your bloodstream and your tissues.
- You will need to re-apply more often.
- You DO NOT try out your new natural deodorant for important occasions like a first date, first day on the job, your wedding…you get the point:)
- Stick with it. Keep a small emergency back up of your regular deodorant but use your natural stick for your everyday use.
YESSSS!!! Give yourself a sweet-ass high five for this incredible gift you are giving yourself!
Living a healthy life is about more then isolating which foods you are consuming, it is about your ENTiRE approach to caring for your body.
CHANGE. It takes one simple change to create a SHIFT.
Enjoy!
until next time…
