I Dare You To Try…
If you look around, you may notice that many among you are sleepwalking through life. Completely disconnected to how their bodies are feeling, what they are eating, where their meals are coming from, constantly ‘suffering’ from inflammation, illness, depression and living with an overall sense of “I just need to get through the day”, instead of truly LIVING the day and feeling joy in the process.
You may even find you look at yourself and notice that you too are among the living ‘disconnected’. You are probably asking yourself, “How did this happen? How long as it been going on for? How did I get here?”
Who cares? Life is SHORT! Don’t waste another second in the land of over-analyzing and under-valuing your time. You have defined that you don’t feel well and that you would like to feel better…CONGRATULATIONS! Now what?
CHANGE. It takes one simple change to create a SHIFT.
There are few things you can do to impact your life more powerfully, profoundly and permanently than changing your diet for the cleaner and for the better. Everything that enters your mouth whether it be food you chew or beverages you drink, has a direct impact on your body, mind, and spirit. I learned this firsthand when I began changing the way I ate and felt about food 17 years ago. Not only did my body begin to change but I felt happier and more connected to myself. Something shifted in me that I never expected or even thought to look for. But there it was. Changing my diet, the way I perceived food and nourishment for my body, changed my world and who I was completely…it led me on the path of where I am today.
And now today is your day.
Your first task: Create a reasonable, yet challenging and meaningful goal for yourself with regards to your new way of eating. It can be as simple as no more juice or soda daily or as big as becoming vegetarian. Everyone is at a different level of ‘done with feeling like crap’ and everyone has different goals. You decide what is most important to you , what you are up for and most importantly
WHAT YOU CAN HANDLE
But…in order for this shift of consciousness in regards to your food to be impactful enough you are going to have to stretch yourself a little beyond your comfort zone. Being uncomfortable is a good thing here!
Once you figure out where you are going to start to make changes, you need a plan and you need to set a date. In other words, getting your toolbox ready because we are about to go into reno-mode! Make sure you have the groceries you are going to need to prepare your healthy meals and snacks, clear all the CRAP out of your kitchen, organize your kitchen, map out what you are going to eat and let those around know what you are doing so the you will have some support.
Have fun with it. Check out new cookbooks, go online for recipes or have a night with friends where everyone brings their fav healthy dish.
You need to be very conscientious of the language you use when taking on this new way of living. Keep it positive and productive. Instead of “oh my gosh how am I going to live without my midday coffee and my diet pops? say “I am going to treat my body like the goddess it is and fuel it with more water and fresh food today”.
This is where your inner Goddess wakes up to the holy “WOW, I’m worth it” truth. Good-bye, woe-is-me thinking and unwell feeling and hello, kick-ass care. This level of awakening can be like a cosmic consciousness cocktail that makes you tipsy with self-empowerment and craving more!
