Today episode includes our first guest, which is also one of my best friends, Dr. Laura Foster. Dr. Laura has been an inspired Chiropractor for over 20 years and along the way she has coached and led retreats, workshops and group gatherings that have allowed her to tap into her gift of helping others find their truth and greatest sense of self.
During this episode Dr. Laura engages into a thoughtful conversation about retreats. The experience of going away and encountering yourself, getting in touch with your health and shifting perspectives. The special aspect of a retreat is that everything is taken care of, leaving time for your personal growth.
From being a participant to becoming a leader…
This process happened gradually for Dr. Laura, she went from hosting a couple hour workshop to a 7 days retreat. She trusted in her capabilities and in her knowledge, faced her fears and doubts, and kept doing wonderful retreats where people have a chance to grow and find themselves.
What’s unique about Dr. Laura’s retreats?
Dr. Laura offers retreats and an opportunity to BE more than you can DO, the location is beautiful. A place that really nourishes who you are, where your level of yoga will be met by the Yogi Instructors and you will be connected to your soul spark. This retreat is a journey within yourself and a permission to let go the things that are not serving you.
You can create this in your everyday life
Create time and space in each day. For Dr. Laura this space is created by getting up earlier, connecting to your purpose and asking yourself the right questions about how you want to feel. This shouldn’t be a job. Say “Yes” to yourself more often than you say “No”. Put yourself first.
If you think you don’t deserve it, but you know you need it…
Listen to the first voice that comes to your mind when you are asking the question. Listen to the Yes, that is your soul voice, the other judgements and preoccupations are secondary, this second one is your mind talking.
The ultimate goal
For people to walk away from the retreat with a greater sense and appreciation of who they truly are.
