Quotes:
“For measuring your thyroid health, the bare minimum would be TSH free T4 and your free T3 to understand what’s the signal from the brain to the gland. What’s the production from the gland itself. And how effectively is your T4 converting into T3, which is the metabolically active form of your thyroid hormone.”
“A little thyroid hormone vocabulary. So T4 thyroxine – it’s the inactive form of your thyroid hormone in its storage form. And it can convert into either free T3, which is a yes please, give me more of that. Or into reverse T3, which we don’t want to see those levels elevated.
T3 is the active form of your thyroid hormone that’s responsible for your thyroid hormones work and the actions in your body.”
“Your adrenal health is so important when we’re talking about your thyroid health”
“The big takeaway for women is every time something goes wrong with their metabolism, we pull it back to thyroid. And definitely that can be an issue because your thyroid is the master of your metabolic system. But it is also involved in nearly every other function that is going on in our body”
“When T4 and T3 levels are low, which is in the case of hypothyroidism, that TRH hormone is actually telling your pituitary to produce more TSH, which signals to the thyroid to produce more T4 and T3. When T4 and T3 are too high, this is what happens in hyperthyroidism, TRH tells the pituitary to produce less”
“What exactly are we waiting for in that period of time? What’s going to change if this woman is no further along in her empowerment or her knowledge of the things she needs to do to change. Right. I have a free thyroid masterclass that you can go and download.”
“You can work with us one-on-one and we can do a full thyroid panel and do the appropriate testing for your adrenals and all your hormones. And actually not guess what’s going on, but we can test.”
Vocabulary:
- TRH – Thyrotropin releasing hormone
- HPA axis – Hypothalamus pituitary adrenal act
- TSH – Thyroid stimulating hormone
