Giving in and Giving up are NOT the same thing!

I feel I could write a book on all of my amazing experiences since opening Simplicity, of watching this community grow into one big fun-loving yogi-family; but it may have to wait until I am done writing my current book…

I just had to share this story with all you today: Friday morning a smiley lady showed up to Simplicity, mat and water in hand to try out Sculpted – her first class EVER at the studio – Oiy! I prep her for the fact this is NOT a yoga practice, this is a ‘Get Out of Your Own Way’ practice. She is eager, says she made the time and she is going to give it a whirl! Awesome!!!

About 5 minutes in she had the face we have all experienced at our first Sculpted class…its one that reads, “ugh…wtf have I gotten myself into, Jenn must be stuttering she keeps saying one more but we’ve done 50, please make it stop!”

But she keeps going, when we get to a point on our mats to use stability balls and as if in a valiant effort to prevent her from feeling her hamstrings in a way she never thought possible, her yoga mat literally RIPPED IN HALF underneath her! I have NEVER seen this before…hilarious:))) I can say this because she was the one laughing the hardest!

Then she tries to regain her composure and get back at it when the rest of her mat fully self-combusts all around her. I give her a new one and as I turn my back her ball whips it from under her across the room. The universe was screaming ARE YOU FRIGGIN KIDDING ME YOU BROUGHT ME HERE????

But she just kept smiling and stayed for the whole class, she did AMAZING!!! and when we were done came up to me and said thank you xo

I saw her the next day, after a Reiki treatment and asked how she was doing. She answered me with this, ” I feel a bit stringy and rigid but fabulous! It was like I have had to days at the Spa of my Body!

You see she could have given up and packed up the pieces of her mat and walked out, I am sure many would have and I wouldn’t have judged, but instead she decided to give in. To give in to all the ‘stuff’ going on around her, the roadblocks, the outer symbols trying to stop her and instead just let the process unfold…

That is SUCCESS, it’s not about touching your nose to your toes it’s about showing up and doing the work!
