Did you know that 2/3 of that gorgeous brain of yours is composed of fat? It’s true and the reason why a fit brain needs healthy fats everyday to function at its best!

The problem is, that most people are consuming either the wrong fats; those that are hydrogenated and/or processed and full of trans fats OR they skipping out on fat completely  in favour of light and low-fat products in a failing attempt to lose weight.

Your healthiest fats to be consuming are those rich in brain, gut and butt healthy Omega 3’s these three below are my top choices for getting these essential fats into your body:

Ground Flaxseed ~ these little gems are rich in Omega 3 fatty acids, and do versatile in recipes. You can add 1-2 tablespoons to smoothies, cereal, oatmeal, baking, applesauce, salads and Greek yogurt. They add a nutty flavour and keep you healthy at the same time.

Walnuts ~ 12-14 halves of these crunchy, flavourful nuts in your salads, cereals, homemade trail mix, smoothies, yogurt, oatmeal or served with fresh fruit will provide with you a great fat source, fibre, protein, manganese and vitamin E.

Salmon ~ consuming wild salmon 1-2 times per week is a delicious, easy way to boost your omega 3 consumption and enjoy an incredible source of protein too! Try cooking yours on a cedar plank, lightly pan frying or baking using a variety of herbs, spices and homemade marinades to create a meal worth bragging about.

As you prepare your grocery list and meal plan for this week be sure to incorporate these amazing foods and will body will thank you with greater clarity, regular bowel movements, enhanced physical performance, stable blood sugar, supple skin and a happy attitude.
