A Delicious and Easy Way To Shed Excess Puffiness and Inflammation!

Its the Canada Day long weekend where I live and you know what that means… later nights, more socializing, more alcohol then usual, salty snacks and sugary treats.

Also known as – bloated, puffy, sodium induced water retention, irregular bowels and lethargic.

If you looked down at your Canuck toes this weekend and noticed that you have swollen feet or socks marks are showing around your ankles, then you definitely have some extra water weight and inflammation to lose.  Here I am sharing a few little tips to help you out and a super yummy recipe for a refreshing midday summer smoothie.

My quick de-puffing tips:-)

  1. Drink 3-5 litre of water every day; add fresh lemon, frozen fruit, watermelon cubes, fresh mint, limes…GET IT IN and GET’ER DOWN. This will help you stay super hydrated and enhance your elimination aka POOP power to fully evacuate all the junk you’ve taken in over the weekend!
  2. EXERCISE – Get up and go! do something, anything for at least 30 minutes to move your lymphatic system, to reduce your excess water weight and to make you fell sassy, sexy and empowered!
  3. Start the day off with a detoxifying Super Smoothie to help stabilize your blood sugar, reduce cravings and leave you feeling satisfied, energized and proud for your amazing start to the day.
  4. Drink at least 500ml of water before you go to bed and pop a B Complex before you hit the pillow for some zzz’s

Try this incredible recipe I made today:

Almond-Coconut-Banana-Berry-Watermelon Smoothie

Serves 4 as a quick pick me up or 2 as a solid snack or light meal

2 cups of unsweetened almond milk

2 cups of coconut water

1 large banana

1 cup cubed watermelon

4 handfuls of organic romaine lettuce

1 cup frozen blueberries

1/2 cup raw cashews

4-5 ice cubes

Blend on high for 60-90 seconds. Pour into mason jars with a straw and enjoy.

Watermelon is a diuretic and a natural laxative. The high potassium content helps release the extra water retention (edema) in your body. Also useful for those PMS moments. The benefits of watermelon are many. Helps detoxify kidneys and prevents kidney stones – Helps to control blood pressure – Helps to lower cholesterol – Relieves mental depression and fatigue – Very alkalizing – helps improve circulation – Relieves edema (water retention) by inducing urination – Relieves constipation.

Oh Canada and oh Watermelon LOL

A simple shift on your regular ingredients and voila – an added benefit to your body.

Food isn’t simply about being healthy its also about being great tasting and very enjoyable.

Happy Day to you all
