Ep #90 | Supporting Women Through the Mental, Emotional and Physical Changes of Motherhood with Alli Cain
Dr. Alli Cain is accompanying me to this episode, she is a chiropractor and has a very important message especially for new moms. She created a certification process called GrowCo, which was founded in 2018 by Dr. Alli Cain when she was 32 weeks pregnant with her first baby. A doctor, fitness coach, and soon-to-be mother, Dr. Cain felt compelled to create a rehab program that supported women through the physical, mental and emotional challenges of motherhood. The program scaled quickly, and after identifying a clear need for further support for her colleagues, Dr. Cain launched a one-day seminar to teach other chiropractors, physiotherapists, and healthcare professionals the GrowCo methodology. Now, GrowCo ambassadors are implementing this approach in their healthcare practices across Canada.
In today’s episode, we will dive deep into the huge gap that exists in the amount of education and knowledge that even healthcare professionals have that are dealing with women during pregnancy and postpartum.
These are the main topics of this resourceful conversation:
- Dr. Alli talks about her experience with her first pregnancy.
- Dr. Alli created a protocol for herself during the postpartum period.
- Dr. Alli decided to share her knowledge with other women.
- How the 6-week period after giving birth was established?
- If you just gave birth: How to know when you are healing appropriately or you need to reach out for assistance?
- You can do rehabilitation on your own.
- Virtual consultations are also available.
- How you hold your baby matters.
- The baby is always going to be first, but moms need care too.
- Rehab can take 5 minutes!
- Every woman should have the experience of working with a pelvic floor physiotherapist.
- Dr. Alli talks about the beginnings of GrowCo and its growth.
- Online courses with Dr. Alli.
Hoping this information has helped to shorten the gap in education in regards to the postpartum period. Our bodies go through so much during pregnancy and we deserve attention and support for healing. Wishing more simplicity and ease in all that you do!

Women go through a lot of hair loss postpartum due to the drop in progesterone and the massive hormonal shift. This can really impact your self-esteem and your confidence. My advice is to do a very good quality oil treatment, using argan oil, rosehip oil and Nourish Oil from Skin Essence Organic, you can drop the oils onto your scalp and massage the follicles where the healthy growth is happening. Remember that what you are eating is crucial, since your hair is made up of minerals, vitamins, and nutrients.
