Cut the BS Wednesday – A Warming Winter Smoothie

This week on Simplicity TV we are back in the kitchen! Sharing a recipe for a delicious WARMING chai spiced banana smoothie. During the fall and winter months, smoothies tend to drop off the recipe list for most people because we don’t want to feel COLD.

Jenn shares a delicious smoothie containing some truly amazing spices that will warm up your belly and satisfy your taste buds too.

Spice Highlights On:

Cardamom – This spice acts very similarly to its digestion-friendly cousin, ginger. It helps combat indigestion, bloating, gas and heartburn. It is traditionally used as a breath freshener, and it is a diuretic, meaning it will help to gently detoxify your system.

Nutmeg – This spice is excellent for digestion and is traditionally used to get your blood pumping. It will warm you up very nicely.

Cinnamon (Ceylon) – A lot of people are unaware of the fact that the variety of cinnamon you chose makes a difference in the nutritional properties it contains. Ceylon Cinnamon is the TOP variety to choose because it is true cinnamon, and it packs the most nutritional punch. Ceylon cinnamon has been studied to help balance blood sugar levels, as opposed to commercial cinnamon, which still has the spicey taste, without the nutritional benefits.

Turmeric – Is the most widely studied herb, one of the top anti-inflammatories for any body system, working at every level of inflammation. It works harmoniously with black pepper. When you cook with them the black pepper helps the tissue to absorb the turmeric more readily.

Cayenne – Cayenne is an amazing blood mover – it gets your blood pumping from your center out toward the extremities, which explains why most people tend to feel flushed after eating this amazing spice. It will indefinitely WARM YOU UP!
