So, what is the deal with collagen?

We’ve been hearing about it, seeing it in recipes, and it may leave some of you wondering what collagen even is, and why it’s so good for you?

Collagen is a virtually colourless and tasteless source of protein, which is made from beef collagen. It can be used in smoothies, baking and elixirs as a replacement or alternative to protein powder, and packs some pretty amazing properties…

  • Supports and heals the gut.
  • Promotes beautiful skin by increasing elasticity.
  • Improves Health of Skin and Hair.
  • Reduces Joint Pains and Degeneration.
  • Helps Heal Leaky Gut.
  • Boosts Metabolism, Muscle Mass and Energy Output.
  • Strengthens Nails, Hair and Teeth.
  • Improves Liver Health.
  • Protects Cardiovascular Health.
I’m sharing a recipe below for a simplicious way to sneak collagen into a smoothie. Learn more about collagen here.  When it comes to collagen (as with anything you’re eating) QUALITY IS KEY!! You must be diligent to source great collagen, from grass-fed, and pasture raised cows. After all, you are what you eat, eats! To save you time in sourcing the best collagen, there are 2 brands that I lean towards: Vital Proteins Collagen and more locally, Great Lakes Collagen.
Vital Proteins Collagen will be available at Ignite Your Life on June 25th, for a pretty sweet deal! We also have guest speaker Samantha Gladish, who will talk more about the benefits of collagen, and how it can help to beautify your skin.
