The title is my favourite line from Caitlin’s blog post LOL

Recently I have been sharing inspiring stories from some of our students, staff and my colleagues and we’ve been getting great feedback from all of you that you love hearing from real people about their personal journeys and self-discovery.

I would like to introduce all of you to our fabulous Personal Trainer and Spin Instructor Caitlin. She comes off as this very sweet and super kind hearted girl and while she is definitely those things and more, she is also a little mean in her classes, but that’s why we and our a**es love her because she makes our precious time worth showing up and helps us on our journey of feeling and looking incredible!

Hello to all of you reading this, my name is Caitlin McMurtry and ever since I walked thought the doors of Simplicity my life has completely changed!! (for the good of course)

I was this 20 year old girl who had just gotten out of a crappy relationship and had been looking for someone, some place to just give me a chance to do what I went to school for and most importantly what I LOVED doing… Personal Training! And finally I was given the chance I had been looking for.

Now fast forward a few years later and here I am, doing what I LOVE and WOW, I would have never thought I would be doing half the things I am to this day. For example: Teaching classes…. NO WAY I was so shy and nervous you should have seen me trying to teach a group exercise class when I was in college it was awful, a hot mess and a little funny looking back on it now because it’s one of my favorite things to do.

The thought of becoming a Yoga Teacher? HA ya right, when I was in high school and even in college I thought yoga was just stretching, chanting and smelly incents and the only way I can really be in good shape and feel good in my body is to exercise…. a lot!

I lived at the gym, lifted weights, ran and did loads of Spin classes but when I tried my first yoga class at Simplicity – OMG was I ever blown away! I quickly realized that yoga was way more than stretching, Om’ing and incents; it has thought me so many things about myself and how amazing the human body really is. Not to mention some of the classes I’ve done have challenged me WAY more than any other form of exercise I have even done.

Working at Simplicity www.simplicityyoga.ca  has taught me that all you truly need to get into the best shape possible, is a wicked tribe and community around and YOUr OWN BODY WEIGHT combined with some strategic free weight and stability movements. When I train my clients, the only weight we use is your body weight!

So many people are wasting their money on all these fancy exercise gadgets that they see on TV when really their best tool is looking them right back in the mirror.

Just to show you how little you need to get a great workout in I’ve provided you with one of my favorite workouts to do with my clients as it challenges you to push yourself , Plus can be done in a short period of time !

Grab your water and a towel…

AMRAP’S (As Many Rounds As Possible)

10-12 mins

10 Squats/Jumping Squats

8 Pushups (Full or Modified)

20 Bicycles (Core work)

10 Shoulder Presses (use a weight that will challenge you 5-10lbs is good)

  • Once you have completed ALL 4 exercises (which = 1 round) you start from the top and do it all over again till you’ve run out of time. Keep track of how many rounds you have completed so you can see your progress! * Note: Time and exercises can be changed to suit your needs or how much free time you have*

One of my greatest wishes for everyone who is reading is for you all to be able to find your own Simplicity in your community, I thank Jenn every day for opening up her doors to our town. The friends I’ve made, the clients I’ve seen and all the members that walk through the doors have really shaped me into the person I am today and of course my wonderful parents, it’s like no matter how shitty of a day you’re having once you walk through those doors you can’t be anything but happy and grateful !.

Thank you for reading and always remember motion is lotion:)
