Our hormones are responsible for so many of our daily functions, but what you may not know is they are also responsible for turning our appetite on and off. Ghrelin (I like to call it Ghrelin the Gremlin) is the hormone that is always craving more; Ghrelin increases your hunger. Left to his own devices, Ghrelin will constantly seek out more, and his BFF Leptin is the one in charge of telling your body ‘you know what, I think we’re full now.’ One of the simplest craving hacks I love to share with my clients when they are craving something sweet, is to give your body something rich in healthy fat instead. When you’re hormones are balanced and working in harmony with the rest of your body, you are able to reach the goals you’re after with simplicity and ease. When you are having constant cravings for sweet or salty, experiencing breakouts, mood swings, acne, insomnia, PMS, and your waistline won’t budge; this is your body’s way of telling you ‘Hey girl, something is UP, it’s time to pay attention.” Your body is wickedly intelligent and so are you! It wants to be in perfect harmony, and is always striving to create balance. So, if you’re looking to create more balance this year, I’ve got a surprise for you.

For the past 2 months I have been working with a small group of women on a mission. We are working together to balance their hormones in a safe and effective way that is going to leave them with lasting results. The first round of this program filled up so quickly I didn’t even have a chance to share it with you, but I am launching it again and I can’t wait to have you join me. I invite you to learn more about The Hormone Project by clicking here.

This program is truly a game changer, especially if you’re looking to hone in and finally begin to understand how your hormones work and how to get them into balance. This rich and creamy smoothie bowl is one you’re going to want to try if you’re looking for ways to balance out your hormones and stop your cravings dead in their tracks.

Hormone Balancing Smoothie Bowl

  • 1 avocado
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 scoop of plant-based vanilla protein powder (I used Genuine Health for this recipe)
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp of nut butter (I used almond coconut)
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1-2 tbsp of ground flax seeds
  • 2-3 tbsp of almond milk
  • 1/2 cup of ice

Toppings (these are optional, you can use anything you like)

  • pumpkin seeds
  • coconut flakes
  • goji powder
  1. Put 2 tbsp of almond milk into the bottom of your blender.
  2. Add in your avocado, banana, seeds, cinnamon, nut butter and protein powder.
  3. Start your blender on low. Stop half way through to push around any ingredients that are not being blended and test for desired consistency.
  4. Add 1 tbsp of almond milk if needed and blend until it is a thick and creamy consistency.
  5. Scoop out into a bowl and dress with toppings.
