It feels like summer is already here, considering how HOT it has been over the past few days! For some of you, summer is seen as an indulgent season, where BBQ favourites and cocktails increase, and the desire to stick to your workout plans begin to dwindle.
This year, instead of falling back into old routines, it might be time for you to switch it up! Get prepared for this coming summer season. Here is a fresh take on some new meal ideas you can use for summer BBQ’s, backyard parties and how to keep snacks for your kids simple and satisfying.

Salad Ideas:
Roasted Sweet Potato & Watermelon tossed with fresh basil, mint and pumpkin seeds, drizzled with olive oil
Kale, Fennel, Cabbage, Apple Salad with Fresh Avocado
  • 1 small bin of organic baby kale, prewashed
  • 1 head of fennel, thinly sliced
  • 
1⁄4 head of purple cabbage, thinly sliced or shredded
  • 1 organic Pink Lady apple, julienned
  • 1 organic Granny Smith apple, julienned
  • 1 avocado, cubed
  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp organic dried cranberries
  • 2 tbsp raw pumpkin seeds
Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl, and top with Dijon Herb Vinaigrette
Snack Idea (Kid Friendly):
Hungry Buddha Coconut Chips: Excellent source of fat and DELICIOUS – peanut-free, organic, gluten free, NON-GMO
TIP: dilute your kids favourite juice with coconut water to add extra hydration and to cut back on their sugar intake.
Creamy Colada Cocktail (makes 2+):
  • Coconut water
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup of pineapple
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Fresh Mint
  • Cocoa Nibs (optional garnish)
  • 2 oz of rum (optional)
  • 2 ice cubes
Add fruit into your blender and top with ¾ cup coconut water (1 cup if you’re not adding rum), ice, and lime juice. Blend for 60 sec.  Top with fresh mint and cocoa nibs. Enjoy.
