Both the CDC and EPA confirm that Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus is a safe and effective bug repellent.

Don’t you just love coating your skin and your clothes in DEET? No, not really? Well if you are looking for an alternative, something both safe and effective, look no further – you’ve found it.

We recently shared an article about a natural essential oil that repels bugs as efficiently as DEET, confirmed by the CDC. Lemon Eucalyptus Essential Oil is a Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-registered bug repellent. Choosing an EPA-registered repellent ensures the EPA has evaluated the product for effectiveness. EPA-registered insect repellents are proven safe and effective, even for pregnant and breast-feeding women, according to the CDC. It is considered an effective deterrent of mosquitos, and there are a few other extremely effective EO’s (Essential Oil’s) that get the job done.

The EO blend, which contains all the top bug repellent oils, is featured in this video. TerraSheild, by Doterra contains Ylang Ylang Flower, Nootka Wood, Cedarwood Wood, Catnip, Lemon Eucalyptus, Litsea Fruit, Arborvitae Wood essential oils and Vanilla Bean Absolute in a base of Fractionated Coconut Oil and Tamanu Seed Oil.

In this video, Jenn demonstrates how to turn this EO blend into an effective home-made bug spray. You can make your own, or you can purchase it pre-blended. Try it out at your next bonfire or camping trip.
