Coming off of a very enjoyable long weekend, where I indulged, chilled out and enjoyed it made me realize, a lot of us never take full advantage of how a weekend breakfast or brunch can re-set your body and your mood for the whole day and maybe even longer…

Most often our schedules don’t allow for a leisurely morning meal. however, on those rare occasions (Sundays?!) nothing is better for the body and the soul than lingering in our pajama’s and feasting on delicious food. An elaborate breakfast can be joyous, relaxing, great for bonding with your spouse or whole family and child-friendly if you plan properly and enjoy whole-heartedly.

Despite the common belief; weekend breakfasts CAN be healthy, inexpensive, and mouth-watering right in your own home. Instead of the typical high-calorie, bum-fattening, buddha-belly enhancing breakfast consisting off fried eggs, home-fries, bacon and/or sausage with 2 pieces of toast, juice and coffee; try some of these options instead.

Fruit salad with fresh granola and Greek Yogurt, stewed fruit over sprouted grain or gluten-free french toast drizzled with real maple syrup and a crunchy pecan topping, spinach, red pepper and goat cheese frittata, poached egg, fresh fruit and Greek yogurt, smoothies, fruit & nut Manna Bread with raw nut butter, warm quinoa with berries, silvered almonds, cinnamon and a touch of coconut milk or scrambled eggs, sliced tomato and ‘fried’ sweet potatoes in grape seed oil. Enjoy any ONE of these with warm water, fresh lemon and raw honey or a caffeine-free herbal tea or fresh maple cashew milk (see previous post for recipe).

Combining the basic of REAL, WHOLE, HEALTHY food and clearing your morning schedule is a sure-fire-way to feel good all weekend long!
