This weekend I had the absolute pleasure to teach over 90 students at the Toronto Yoga Conference. During each workshop, I offered a gentle reminder that holds true for everyone, no matter who you are, or what stage of life you’re in — you’re health begins in your gut. Your digestion is the very core of your health!

Every single time you feel bloated, gassy, lethargic, unhappy, anxious, you have a skin breakout, a headache, insomnia, your joints ache, your menstrual cycle causes you deep pain, shows up whenever it feels like it, whenever you have a food sensitivity or reaction to something you ate or drank, when you have digestive upset or feel depressed…your body is trying to tell you something.

ALL disease begins in the gut.

This is fact. Your gut is the foundation. If there is any level of food sensitivities and/or allergies you need to listen up…these are a HUGE warning sign of a leaky gut. If you have any level of an auto-immune disease; Hashimoto’s, diabetes (Type 1), Cancer, MS, Rheumatoid Arthritis, migraines, thyroid issues, eczema, rashes, hives, depression, constipation – the list could go on and on, you need to slow down. Stop rushing to the health food store and buying another bottle of supplements.

If you want to get to the root cause, you have to heal your gut first – and that requires patience and taking the time to become re-educated on what living healthily actually means.

If you want to learn some simple ways to promote better digestion, reduce bloating, and gain energy, I invite you to join me for a FREE Facebook Live Q & A session April 4th at 7pm – All About Digestion. All you have to do is hop onto my Facebook page at 7pm on Tuesday evening, and I will be there to answer your questions.

In the meantime, here is a brand new recipe I tested in my kitchen, which was SO simplicious and tasty; a gluten-free, nutrient-dense bread that will keep both your taste buds and your gut happy this week.

Gluten-Free Nut and Seed Bread
  • 1 cup pumpkin seds
  • 1 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1 cup almonds
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 1 cup flaxseeds
  • 1 cup sesame seeds
  • 5 organic eggs
  • 1/2 cup organic olive oil
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  1. Pulse all your nuts and seed together in a food processor.
  2. Pour the dry mixture into a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add your eggs, oil and seasoning. Mix together throughly.
  4. Place a sheet of parchment paper in the bottom of a bread pan and pour the batter in.
  5. Bake at 320 degrees F for about an hour, until it’s cooked through.
  6. Store fresh on the counter for 5-7 days or in the fridge for 7-10 days.
Wishing you more space for simplicity this week,
– Jenn xoxo
